Welcome to Shakespeare in the Ozarks -- the greatest plays in the English language performed in a lovely outdoor setting, in unique Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Shakespeare
in the ozarks
Shakespeare in the Ozarks is the brainchild of John and Jean Merritt, who drew their inspiration from years of enjoying Shakespeare in the Parks in Fort Worth, Texas. Now relocated to the Ozarks, they have been working, organizing, networking and fundraising for many years to create a similar event in Eureka Springs. They imagined crowds of hundreds watching rollicking comedy on a new stage in Harmon Park, under the stars on warm summer evenings -- and in 2010 their dream is coming true.
Shakespeare in the Ozarks begins its 2010 season with an original production of Shakespeare's first and most accessible play, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, at 4:00 p.m., Saturday May 15th, and will continue to offer weekend performances into the summer.
Performances will be given on our brand-new stage in Harmon Park, funded by a generous donation from Arvest Bank in Eureka Springs.
...How shall we beguile
The lazy time, if not with some delight?
Shakespeare in the Ozarks is perfectly situated to become a fully professional regional festival, drawing audiences from at least four neighboring states.
